Summer Solstice Sound Healing and Live Music with Joss Jaffe

  • Alliance Physical Therapy 7887 Soquel Drive, Suite E APTOS, CA 95003 United States (map)

The Summer Solstice (June 21st) is the longest day of the year. This is the pinnacle moment for the Sun. It is said that the Sun is in its full power at this high point in the sky and the Earth Goddess is then able to bring forth the largest abundance of the year. We pause to celebrate the manifestation of the Spring and welcome the warm sunlight of Summer.

To celebrate the Summer Solstice we are coming together on June 20th to honor the sun and feel into our power. Join us for an evening of sound healing and musical celebration to enter this next season. Musical guest Joss Jaffe will lead this event with accompaniment by Jenna Weitzman using her crystal quartz singing bowls.

THIS IS A SLIDING SCALE EVENT, WITH A SUGGESTED DONATION OF $20.

>> About Joss Jaffe <<

Joss Jaffe combines reggae and world to create a blend of acoustic and electric sounds all his own with his new release Dub Mantra Sangha. Take a little ThieveryCorporation, mix it with Jai Uttal and then add some Jack Johnson, and you have a feel for what Jaffe is presenting in this new sound, where influences such as U2 and Toumani Diabate can also be heard. Joss Jaffe began playing music at a young age, when he started writing and producing his own songs. Along with touring the world, Jaffe also spreads his knowledge through classes and workshops.

Dub, an extension of reggae born in the 1960s, Mantra, a word or sound that is believed to have sacred or special power, and Sangha, community. All of these elements come together to create “a global crossroads where 15 intercontinental singers have come together to
weave Mantras in 5 languages with the pulsing bass lines and hypnotic beats of Dub Reggae rhythms,” in the words of Jaffe himself.

Grammy Award nominees Jai Uttal and Silvia Nakkach, and Grammy Award winner Mykal Rose make guest appearances on Dub Mantra Sangha. Other featured performers include Donna De Leroy, who previously spent time singing with Madonna, and numerous artists who specialize in world chant. Not only is Joss Jaffe the singer and sole composer on his new album, he also shows us his studio skills as the primary producer on Dub Mantra Sangha.
